In italki, I mainly prepare students worldwide for Portuguese exams (CAPLE). Also I guide those relocating to Portugal. As a native and certified Portuguese teacher, I currently teach at a university in Kuala Lumpur and spend a semester each year teaching in Hong Kong. Additionally, I serve as an external teacher for the Portuguese Institute for Asia in Macau, overseeing Portuguese language exams. My previous experience includes teaching at a university in Shanghai, accumulating over a decade of experience in Asia. Beyond English, I am fluent in Spanish, Italian, French, and have a basic understanding of Mandarin. Currently, I am expanding my language repertoire by learning Malay.Me as a Teacher
The majority of my students are from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and the US, preparing for the Portuguese CIPLE exam (A2). For this group, I follow the guidelines set by the Portuguese examination center. Additionally, I've had a growing number of students preparing for DAPLE exams (C1). Recently, there has been a notable increase in students relocating to Portugal, reflecting its rising popularity as a destination. This trend requires a different approach for teaching. I also teach children and teens for quite some time.My lessons & teaching style
I adhere to an inclusive approach, recognising that each learner presents unique preferences and distinct learning requirements. Placing a strong emphasis on communication and employing a student centered methodology, my classes are well structured, featuring tested materials and a comprehensive learning plan. This plan is tailored to fulfil mutually agreed-upon learning objectives within a specific timeframe, often aligned with examination dates.My teaching material

Susana is such a patient and fun teacher. She uses songs with my 10-year-old daughter as well as lots of encouragement, which helps keep her going. We have been loving the classes!

What a great first class! My daughter is very shy and did so well with Susana. She asked to be scheduled with her again. We loved the different types of media used, and the emphasis on listening as well.
