Before our lesson, I will send you an information pack with details of the different types of classes I provide. 

I will also ask you to complete a placement test to determine your level. This is to be completed and returned to me before the lesson in time so I can mark it and design the correct trial lesson content for you.

I will also send you some questions that help us find out your exact needs. This is also to be completed and returned before the lesson.

In the trial lesson, we will discuss exactly what you need from your English teacher and how I can help you achieve your goals. 

We also start to complete a placement test to determine your reading and speaking ability. 

Please attend the trial lesson using a laptop or desktop computer. You will need to be able to read a word document from the device screen. I can design a phone lesson if you want future lessons using a mobile phone.

The trial lesson is not for general conversation practice. If you want conversation practice then please book a conversation practice lesson from the lessons available on my profile.

Do you need to improve your fluency and increase your confidence when speaking English?

Improve your fluency with lessons that include grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Before the first lesson, I will ask you to complete a written placement test to determine your grammar and vocabulary ability level. During the first lesson we complete a reading placement test for pronunciation, comprehension and vocabulary. We can then decide which level is best for you.

There are four levels available. 
INTERMEDIATE (B1, IELTS 4 to 5) English Speaking Course 
INTERMEDIATE PLUS (B1 - B2, IELTS 5 to 6) English Speaking Course 
UPPER INTERMEDIATE (B2, IELTS 5.5 to 6.5) English Speaking Course
ADVANCED (C1-C2, IELTS 7 to 8+) English Speaking Course 

Each level is a 25 module course for students who want to improve their speaking skills. The course follows the Oxford "New English File" Curriculum and includes alternative material suited to online lessons.
We will have a revision and practise conversation lesson every 5 lessons to help you remember the taught language and practice using it.

Language for Online Business Meetings – 6 Lessons

Are you nervous about your online conference call? 
Maybe you are “chairing” (leading) your first meeting and are unsure of the correct way to do it.

English for Online Business Meetings

You can practice your existing skills during this type of lesson. It is useful for upper intermediate to advanced speakers who want to retain some of their existing English skills and practice using their vocabulary and grammar. 

During the lesson we can talk about any subject you want or use one or two articles from websites for discussion, reading practice and new vocabulary. I recommend articles from: https://breakingnewsenglish.com/ as it also has lots of exercises for each article. 

This lesson does not follow a curriculum or structured lessons and is more like a natural conversation between native speakers. It will include informal language and slang phrases. 

A lesson report card can be supplied on request with details of lesson content and pronunciation corrections.

Conversation Practice

Do you have an IETLS test soon?
Maybe you need to practice the speaking part of the test.

Our practice lesson will include 2 to 4 practice tests. Feedback is given after each test and a written report is provided at the end of each lesson. 

ON SKYPE YOU CAN RECORD THE LESSON TO LISTEN TO YOUR RESPONSES AND FEEDBACK AFTERWARDS. 

Test format – Speaking (11–14 minutes)

The Speaking test consists of an oral interview between the test takers' and an examiner. 

Timing: 11–14 minutes - we can normally practice three times in a one-hour long lesson.

Part 1 - the examiner will ask you general questions about yourself and a range of familiar topics, such as home, family, work, studies and interests. This part lasts between four and five minutes.

Part 2  - you will be given a card that asks you to talk about a particular topic. You will have one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes. The examiner will then ask one or two questions on the same topic.

Part 3 - you will be asked further questions about the topic in Part 2. These will give you the opportunity to discuss more abstract ideas and issues. This part of the test lasts between four and five minutes.
