I have been teaching Japanese for the past 4 years, and have helped my students at all levels - basic to advanced. My classes are usually conversation-based and customised to my students' language needs, whether it be grammar, idioms, vocabulary, or pronunciation. If you have something specific you need to prepare for, such as an upcoming interview, presentation or JLPT exams, I can definitely help you with that! I am also happy to answer any questions you have about material you are learning in other Japanese classes or by yourself, and help with document editing/proofreading. To learn a new language should be a lot of fun, a source of joy and good time, however many people try and get frustrated. We all can learn as many languages as we want, but we should learn in natural way, like any child learns his mother tongue. As adults we frequently try to learn a new language in ways that are just not conductive. Dry repetition and memorization don’t help. A language is much more than words, a new language is like a new life. Japanese is a fascinating language of a fascinating country. I love to teach Japanese and about our food, our order and good manners, the anime and manga and many other fantastic oddities that exist only in Japan.

I use Genki 1 for Beginners course, Genki 2 for Intermediate 1 course, An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese and Tobira for Intermediate 2 course. For advanced students, the lesson material can be arranged as you please, such as news articles and books. For Beginners to Intermediate 2 course, we will mainly use textbook as well as worksheets and PowerPoint Presentation during the class. At the end of each lesson, I give some homework mainly from the workbook. I sometimes send a worksheet for homework, too. You can complete your homework in your own time and we will check answers in the following lesson.

I was a volunteer sent by the Japanese government and taught at the Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. My students at that time were all adults mainly government officials. After that I went to New Zealand to continue teaching Japanese at a university and also secondary schools. Upon returning to Japan, I taught English to the young Japanese volunteers who were going out to some developing countries for their tasks. Aside from the many years of teaching experiences, my knowledge of multiple languages helps understand the students' psychology and I can help them effectively.
