Hello, and nice to meet you!
My name is James and I'm an English teacher. I am a native English speaker, who was born and raised in the Netherlands. I've spent the past years teaching in the Netherlands, the (Spanish) Basque Country and most recently at universities in Japan.
As you may have guessed, I love travelling! I could happily spend all day talking about where I’ve been, where I want to go and where I ate the best food. Besides travelling, I love sports, music as well as many other things.

I have several years of experience teaching students from the ages 14-18, right up to retirees!
I started teaching as part of my university degree, which resulted in me becoming a qualified English teacher in the Netherlands. I am able to use the aspects of my upbringing to my advantage when it comes to teaching English: I am able to understand what it takes to learn English as a foreign language, while also being able to share the subtleties of the language as a native speaker.
I’ve taught business English, prepared students for trips abroad and I have experience preparing students for TOEIC and Cambridge exams. Whatever your goals, I’m sure we can work together to achieve them.我提供的课程和我的教学风格
Whether it’s exam preparation you need, a discussion about a recent news topic or you want to practise your English for an upcoming trip, I’m confident I'll have a lesson for you!
Because every student is different, I work with my students to make sure their goals and learning styles are the top priority. I like my students to have a say and suggest topics for the lessons, but I'm just as happy being in charge. The choice is yours!
Students can expect a nice mixture of conversation and a focus on grammar or vocabulary, with lots of feedback to help you improve.我的教学资料

James is a fantastic teacher. Definitely, I am improving my English with his help. He is always willing to show me the best way to express what I mean, and I receive such valuable feedback after our lesson that I can apply it in my professional life. Besides, when I have had any problem with the schedule, he has adapted to me, so we were able to reschedule the lesson immediately.

By far the best lesson I've had. James was incredibly engaging, professional yet friendly, and a lovely person to chat to. He gives feedback at the end of the lesson, highlighting your strengths and also the mistakes that you made during the lesson, which you will of course improve. Definitely a teacher worth trying! :)

I haven’t found another Dutch teacher on italki since he was gone so am blessed to speak in Dutch again with corrections and feedback that’s the methodology that I like the most !
