My name is Harumi. I was born and raised in Japan.
I studied music in a college in LA, and then went to Brazil.
I leaned Portuguese there just by listening, and it opened my eyes how important it is to use your ears when you learn a language.
Now I'm back in the US and teach music and languages online besides making YouTube videos.
I love traveling, and I used to do backpacking in all over the world.

Fui ao Brasil e morei lá uns sete anos. Atualmente moro nos EUA dando aula on-line.

I've been teaching more than 20 years now.
As a language teacher, I started teaching Japanese in Brazil in 2014.
But I also taught music, English and other materials for kids in Japan, so teaching was always my passion.
I started teaching online in 2019, and now I teach every single day.
I love to see the students' progress so every level is welcome in my lesson.
Recently I started to learn Chinese and French online, too, in order to, of course, improve my language skills but also to understand my students' difficulties.
I've been discovering a lot of things by learning languages as a student, and that's helping me to set my mind and to reflect to and to improve my own lesson.Мои уроки и стиль преподавания
I have materials to practice building Japanese frases in your head and start speaking right away.
I'm also good at explaining grammar.
If you're a total beginner, don't worry, I'll explain everything in English or other languages, but I also want you to challenge to listen pure Japanese and try to understand the context.
For intermediate and advanced students, I use articles and stories to strengthen their proficiencies.
I love talking about culture or history, too.
I can always customize your lessons depending on your needs, or I can measure you level instantly.

Its a little frustrating at times, the whole learning something you don't know. I stumbled a little today, but we'll dust ourselves off and continue through. There is never any pressure with Harumi-sensei and she will explain things again as needed.

Harumi-sensei's lessons are fun and informative. She's always motivational even when I make the same mistakes (always forget to include certain Japanese counters). Always cheery and encouraging.

Harumi-sensei sensei has a good grasp of what your level is and will push you accordingly. I do not ever feel like things are out of reach, but do feel the push to try a little harder each time.
