Marzia CELI examiner

My 100th lesson with Marzia today! Feels so unreal. I started with her two years ago. I hadn't practiced italian for about 8 years since studying in college and could not really hold a conversation without being nervous. Now when I meet an Italian when I am out randomly, I love speaking with them and cannot wait to go to italy to speak! It has been a fun two years. I can't wait to continue practicing to not forget italian and also improve. Marzia is always on time, bring great energy, is very professional. I can't say enough good things!

I couldn't agree more with a statement above, as I also can't "think of a way a teacher could be better than Marzia". In fact, she's the Teacher (and the Friend) who will go out of her way to help you, even if your question has nothing to do with the Italian language (it *is* the only language we use, even outside of lessons). Besides preparing me for my university exams, she does everything a local blind organisation should be giving me. With all the cuts in social services where I live, I no longer receive enough of the specialised support or the education I need in order to acquire essential skills to live as independently as possible. Marzia is literally saving my life and my studies, teaching me practical skills as well as everything I should have learnt at school ages ago.

After about a year and a half working together, every week, Marzia helped me prepare to take the Italian B2 exam today. Not an easy exam, by the way, as it covers all of the verb tenses, both direct and indirect pronouns, AND includes a challenging spoken section, so needless to say, I was a bit reluctant to “jump in” with this upper-intermediate exam. And when I say that Marzia “helped me to prepare,” I mean that she dragged my a** through the trenches, built up my confidence with lots of exercises, and pushed me, especially during the two months leading up to the exam, preparing me and helping me to face my fears. Marzia is a very gifted teacher. I didn’t realize it, but when she was giving me articles to read “for fun” each week, she was also preparing me for B2 reading comprehension, and when she gave me photos to describe during our lessons (again, also fun), she was actually prepping me for the B2 oral exam. Thank you thank you, Marzia. I couldn’t have done it without you!

After every lesson with Marzia, I come away with a renewed sense of confidence in my abilities. She is very patient and knows how to retrieve information she knows you already have. That's the sign of a great teacher!
